Parkinson’s Drug Addictive Side Effects Litigation
Pfizer settled lawsuits brought by consumers who claim the company did not adequately warn that its Parkinson’s disease drugs— Cabaser and Dostinex—cause addictive and compulsive behavior, including obsessions with gambling, shopping, eating, and sex. Medical research found that dopamine agonists used to treat tremors associated with Parkinson’s disease can have psychiatric side effects of uncontrollable urges. In May 2015, it was reported that the company reached a confidential settlement with 172 plaintiffs in Australia.
