Air Quality Violations at Richmond Refinery Between 2012 and 2014

Chevron U.S.A. paid the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) a $146,000 civil penalty to settle air quality violations at its refinery in Richmond, California. The settlement covered 22 notices of violation that BAAQMD issued for incidents occurring between 2012 and 2014. The violations included the discharge of hydrogen sulfide and other pollutants released through flaring, the failure to take flare samples, and excess carbon monoxide from furnace operations.
