August 2011 North Sea Oil Spill
A Scottish court fined Royal Dutch Shell £22,500 (US$33,979) for an oil spill in the North Sea. A subsea pipeline leak from Shell’s Gannet Alpha field spilled more than 200 tons (about 1,300 barrels) of oil into the central North Sea in August 2011.
