Gomez v. GEO Group (Wrongful Death)
The parents of Albert Gomez, Jr., who died at the Central Texas Detention Facility in May 2010 from a heroin overdose, sued jail operator The GEO Group. The plaintiffs claim guards smuggled the drugs in and provided them to Gomez. They accuse GEO of not properly training guards to handle detainees with drug addictions and allowing guards to participate in the illegal sale of drugs to detainees.
