Sexual Harassment at Florence West Prison
The GEO Group agreed to pay a total of $140,000 to two women to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the Arizona Civil Rights Division (ACRD) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The ACRD and EEOC alleged that GEO tolerated sexual harassment at the Florence West prison in Florence, Arizona in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. They alleged that male managers at GEO sexually harassed numerous female employees physically and verbally and fostered an atmosphere of sexual intimidation and harassment. In addition to the monetary relief, GEO also agreed to improve its anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment policies and procedures.
