FedEx Ground Package System Employment Practices Litigation

In May 2017, a judge approved FedEx Ground Package System’s agreement to pay a total of 12,627 drivers in 19 states $227 million to settle claims that the company misclassified them as independent contractors and, as a result, owed them expenses, wages, and benefits. In September 2018, FedEx agreed to pay $13.3 million to settle the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) claims of a class of individuals that included full-time drivers who worked for the company from 1998 to 2017.
