Clean Water Act Violations at Puerto Rico Bulk Fuels Terminal
Total Petroleum Puerto Rico Corporation agreed to pay a $345,000 civil penalty over claims that it violated the Clean Water Act at its Bulk Fuels Terminal in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The government alleged Total illegally discharged petroleum-derived pollutants at the facility several times since January 2009. The consent decree also requires Total to undertake a project to improve aquatic habitat in the nearby San Juan Harbor. Total did not admit any liability.
