Intelligence Contractor Timesheet Fraud
The Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) found that a MITRE Corporation lead systems engineer was not present at her assigned worksite for the full period for which she billed the government, and regularly used her government internet account for personal use. The ICIG found the employee made false statements, submitted false payment claims, and committed wire fraud. The ICIG determined that the employee made approximately 665 hours of labor charges for which no service was performed and 117 hours for activities outside the scope of the contract between May and October 2012 at a total cost of $110,841.
