Phenytoin Sodium UK Price Hike
The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) fined Pfizer £84.2 million (US$106 million) for charging the National Health Service excessive prices for the anti-epilepsy drug phenytoin sodium. The CMA found that Pfizer broke competition law by increasing the price of the drug up to 2,600 percent in September 2012 after it was “de-branded,” or no longer subject to price regulation.
