Groundwater Contamination at the CTS of Asheville, Inc. Superfund Site
The United States, on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), filed a lawsuit under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) addressing trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination of the groundwater at the CTS of Asheville, Inc. Superfund Site in Asheville, North Carolina. A consent decree resolving the lawsuit required CTS Corporation, Mills Gap Road Associates, and Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation (successor to the liabilities of International Resistance Company, which owned and operated the Site at the time of the disposal of TCE) to implement a remedy selected by EPA, estimated to cost $8,885,000.
