Alleged Corruption in Sale of Nigerian Oil Block – Nigerian Charges

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed corruption charges against Royal Dutch Shell over the $1.1 billion sale of the OPL 245 oil block in 2011. The charges allege Shell’s Nigerian subsidiary and other oil companies made $801 million in improper payments to government officials for the license to OPL 245.
