Nevada National Security Site Worker Health and Safety Violations
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation (PNOV) to National Security Technologies (NSTech) for violations of worker safety and health requirements at the Nevada National Security Site. The violations are associated with an electrical shock event that occurred in August 2016. NNSA identified two Severity Level I violations and one Severity Level II violations in the areas of: (1) hazard identification, assessment, prevention, and abatement; (2) electrical safety; and (3) training and information. NNSA proposed a civil penalty of $112,500 based on the safety significance of the violations and in consideration of mitigation for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
