Imamura et al. v. General Electric (Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Disaster)
A group of Japanese business and property owners and physicians sued General Electric alleging the company was negligent in the design of the reactors and related systems involved in the March 2011 disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. After a tsunami hit Japan, three GE-designed reactors at the plant flooded and released radioactive matter into the surrounding area. The plaintiffs blame GE for defective reactor design and lack of safeguards to prevent the spread of radiation.
