Alleged Eurofighter Fraud – German Prosecution
Airbus Defence and Space GmbH agreed to pay €81.25 million (US$101 million) fine to end a five-year bribery investigation by the Munich Public Prosecutor in connection with the 2003 sale of Eurofighter jets to Austria. The Munich Public Prosecutor found the company was guilty of a “negligent breach of supervisory duties” by failing to ensure proper internal controls that would have prevented employees from making payments to business partners without proven documented services in exchange. The investigation did not confirm the allegations of bribery.
