Deloitte Zimbabwe Sarbanes-Oxley Violation

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged a foreign affiliate of Deloitte & Touche for audit work that circumvented the full oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). According to the SEC, the Zimbabwe affiliate of Deloitte & Touche audited the assets and revenues of a publicly traded company from 2006 until 2012 without registering with the PCAOB. The SEC found Deloitte & Touche Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe violated Section 102 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings, Deloitte agreed to pay disgorgement and interest totaling $99,057.
