U.S. ex rel. Gohil v. Sanofi-Aventis (Taxotere False Claims)
Yoash Gohil, who worked as an oncology sales representative for Aventis Pharmaceuticals, alleged the company engaged in a fraudulent marketing scheme involving its chemotherapy drug Taxotere between 1996 and 2004. Gohil claimed Aventis directed its sales force to misrepresent the safety and effectiveness of Taxotere in order to expand the market share for the drug beyond its approved uses, and that Aventis engaged in a kickback scheme to incentivize physicians to prescribe Taxotere. In November 2021, it was reported that the parties reached a confidential settlement.
