Sharon Steel Corp/Fairmont Coke Works Superfund Site Cleanup

Exxon Mobil settled claims under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and related state claims in connection with the release of hazardous substances (including coal tar, phenol, ammonium sulfate, benzene, toluene, and xylene) at the Sharon Steel Corp/Fairmont Coke Works Superfund Site in Fairmont, West Virginia. The consent decree required Exxon to pay for all future federal and state response costs and reimburse the federal government $250,000 in past response costs.
