Ndambi, et al. v. CoreCivic, (Wage Violations at Cibola County Correctional Center)
A class-action lawsuit accuses CoreCivic (formerly the Corrections Corporation of America) of wage violations at the Cibola County Correctional Center in New Mexico, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center CoreCivic operates under a contract with the county. The named plaintiffs, three detainees from Cameroon who came to the U.S. seeking asylum, allege they were paid as little as $1 per day for janitorial and kitchen work and other tasks at the facility, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New Mexico labor law.
