New York Settlement For Misclassifying Drivers

The New York State Attorney General’s office settled a lawsuit against FedEx alleging the company unlawfully misclassified its delivery drivers as independent contractors and underpaid them. FedEx agreed to pay $2 million to an estimated 500 qualifying drivers who delivered packages for FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery between 2005 and 2016. The settlement amount covers the drivers’ claims of unpaid overtime and unlawful deductions. (The settlement agreement also included $100,000 in administrator’s fees.)
