Wetlands Violations in Andover, MA
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) penalized Raytheon Company $45,750 for unauthorized destruction of approximately 5,000 square feet of vegetated wetland during site work at the company’s Osgood Street facility in Andover, Massachusetts. Raytheon exceeded the scope of work outlined in an emergency certification granted by the Andover Conservation Commission to clear and remove an obstruction (a beaver dam) from the area. Raytheon agreed to pay $20,000 of the penalty; MassDEP agreed to suspend the balance provided the company completes restoration work.
