Distributing Misleading Drug Pricing Coupons in Oregon

Pfizer paid $975,000 to settle claims of distributing misleading marketing materials and coupons to Oregon consumers. The coupons, designed to help consumers afford copays or deductibles associated with brand-name drugs, stated that consumers would “pay no more than” a certain amount for Pfizer products including Flector Patch, Estring, and Quillivant/Quillichew. However, an investigation by the Oregon Department of Justice found that many consumers paid significantly more than the stated cost.
