Byrom v. Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (Medical Malpractice)

A Baltimore jury found that doctors at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center gave patient Erica Byrom an inaccurate prognosis about the outcome of the birth of her daughter, which caused the child to be born with lasting brain injuries. The jury awarded Byrom a total of $229.6 million in damages (a state cap on malpractice verdicts will likely reduce the final judgment amount to just over $200 million).
