Staffordshire Worker Injury
FedEx UK Ltd pleaded guilty in Cannock Magistrates’ Court to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 in connection with an incident in November 2017 when an employee at Burntwood Business Park, near Cannock, Staffordshire, was struck by a forklift truck and seriously injured. FedEx was fined £533,000 (US$699,380) and ordered to pay costs of £10,033 (US$13,164). An investigation by the U.K. Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found inadequate segregation of forklift trucks and pedestrians within the workplace.
