August 2019 Newport News Worker Fatality

Tim Ewing fell to his death in August 2019 while working on the USS George Washington at the Newport News shipyard, owned by a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII). In February 2020, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cited HII for one willful violation and two serious violations in connection with the incident and proposed a penalty of $161,925.
