California Antitrust Case – Business and Individual Consumers
Microsoft settled a California class-action lawsuit in a deal worth up to $1.1 billion. The settlement arose from claims that Microsoft unlawfully wielded its Windows monopoly to overcharge consumers for the operating system. The settlement allowed individuals and businesses in California who bought Microsoft products during a five-year period to apply for vouchers worth between $5 and $29 to purchase computer hardware or software products from any manufacturer.
