Depakine Birth Defects – French Manslaughter Charge

French prosecutors indicted pharma giant Sanofi for manslaughter over birth defects linked to the epilepsy drug valproate, marketed as Depakine. Studies link the drug, which has been on the market since 1967, with disabilities in about 15,000-30,000 children whose mothers took the drug while pregnant.
