Racial Discrimination in Hiring
Microsoft agreed to pay $3 million to resolve an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) into whether the company’s hiring practices were discriminatory toward Asians, Hispanics, and African Americans. The OFCCP alleged that Microsoft’s hiring and selection process revealed “statistically significant” disparities in the rates at which minority applicants were hired for certain positions at four locations between 2012 and 2018, including its corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
