Hanford Waste Treatment Plant Construction False Claims

Bechtel and AECOM Energy & Construction paid $57.75 million to resolve allegations that for a decade they overcharged the government for labor costs on a contract to build the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant at the Hanford Site. The government alleged the companies claimed reimbursement for costs associated with time that was not productively worked, including downtime, idle time, standby time, and other non-productive time, some of which was unallowable under the circumstances that existed at the times those costs were incurred.
