Hanford Cleanup HUBZone Subcontracts False Claims

CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company, a prime contractor at the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site, paid over $3 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by submitting false and fraudulent small business subcontract reports. The government alleged that CH2M made false claims regarding its Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) subcontracting efforts—specifically, that subcontracts awarded to Indian Eyes, LLC and Phoenix-ABC A Joint Venture went to HUBZone businesses when, in fact, CH2M knew both companies did not have HUBZone status during the time period of the subcontracts.
