Alleged Environmental Violations at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory

Northrup Grumman subsidiary Alliant Techsystems Operations LLC paid a $350,000 penalty to settle alleged hazardous waste storage and Clean Air Act violations at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory, which is owned by the U.S. Navy. In addition to the Clean Air Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also alleged violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System, and the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan.
