Disability Discrimination in Virginia
Maximus paid $50,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Virginia. The EEOC alleged Maximus failed to promote Thelma Austin in November 2009 because of concerns about the residual effects of a stroke she suffered earlier that year. As part of the settlement, Maximus also agreed to take other remedial actions.
