Cathode Ray Tube Price-Fixing
Philips paid $7 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the Washington State attorney general alleging price-fixing by manufacturers of cathode ray tubes (CRTs). The lawsuit alleged that Philips and other CRT manufacturers engaged in a scheme to drive up the cost of CRTs from 1995 to 2007, causing millions of Washington consumers to be overcharged for televisions and computer monitors.
