Improper Payments to Polish Government Officials

Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. paid $4.5 million to settle U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charges of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The SEC alleged that, from 1999 to 2007, Philips’ Polish subsidiary made improper payments to Polish healthcare officials to increase sales of its medical equipment.
