Defective Hip Implant Devices
Johnson & Johnson paid about $1 billion to resolve thousands of lawsuits alleging the company sold defective metal-on-metal hip implants. The lawsuits alleged that Pinnacle implants, manufactured by J&J’s DePuy Orthopedics subsidiary, caused a build-up of metal ions in the blood, causing groin pain, allergic reactions, bone erosion, and tissue death.
