Sale and Distribution of Unregistered and Misbranded Pesticides

Advanced Sterilization Products, a division of Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon, paid a $136,800 penalty for the sale and distribution of unregistered and misbranded pesticides to veterinary clinics and laboratories nationwide. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that the company failed to submit required production reports for a registered pesticide distributed under the brand name “STERRAD Hydrogen Peroxide Cassettes.” The cassettes were distributed to laboratories and veterinary clinics without an EPA-approved label or a list of the physical and chemical hazards as required by the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
