Model Year 2010 Diesel Engine Clean Air Act Settlement
Navistar paid a $52 million civil penalty to settle alleged violations of the Clean Air Act by introducing into commerce 7,749 heavy-duty diesel engines for use in trucks and buses in model year 2010 without a valid EPA-issued certificate of conformity, resulting in excess emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Navistar also agreed to complete mitigation projects over the next four years to reduce 10,000 tons of NOx from future emissions.
