Bethpage Facility and Naval Weapons Plant Cleanup

The federal government and Northrop Grumman collectively paid $64.5 million to the Bethpage and South Farmingdale, New York water districts to resolve litigation over groundwater contamination allegedly stemming from hazardous materials released at the former Northrop Grumman Bethpage Facility and the Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant in Bethpage. Northrop also paid the federal government $35 million for cleanup costs at both sites.
