Improper Payments to Foreign Government Officials

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged Eli Lilly and Company with violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for improper payments its subsidiaries made to foreign government officials to win business in Russia, Brazil, China, and Poland. Lilly agreed to pay $29.4 million to settle the SEC’s charges.
