Safety Violations Leading to the Unauthorized Release of Hazardous Chemicals (Louisiana)

On November 22, 2002, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality issued a Notice of Potential Penalty for safety violations which led to the unauthorized release of several hazardous chemicals. Without admitting liability, Exxon agreed to pay $350,000, $250,000 of which will go to performing beneficial environmental projects.
