Bunch v. Maersk Line Ltd. (Personal Injury)
David Michael Bunch sustained serious injuries when fell aboard the container ship Maersk Texas in 2002. While performing work in one of the ship’s holds, he fell 9 ½ feet when he failed to see a drop-off in the center of a walkway. He alleged Maersk knew of the hazard but failed to correct it. The jury awarded Bunch $3.84 million, but reduced it to $2.95 million after deciding he was 30 percent responsible.
