Birth Injury

A jury in Cook County, Ill. awarded $11.7 million to a woman whose son suffered severe brain damage following his birth in 1988 at a University of Chicago hospital. The mother blamed the injury on the hospital’s delay in performing an emergency C-section. The verdict was affirmed on appeal.
