False Claims Relating to Transplant Services

The University of Chicago Hospitals paid a fine of $115,000 to settle a whistleblower suit alleging the hospital improperly manipulated diagnoses to allow patients to become eligible for liver transplants and enable the hospital to receive federal and state reimbursement for the service.
