Schaefer v. General Electric Co., et al. (Gender Discrimination)

Lorene Schaefer, general counsel for General Electric’s transportation unit, sued the company in federal court in Connecticut claiming that it discriminates against its female employees in pay and promotions. Schaefer sought $500 million in damages for a group of approximately 1,500 to 1,700 female employees. In January 2009, Schaefer and General Electric settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount.
