Bonn v. L-3 Communications Corp. (Naval Air Training Crash)
The families of three service members killed during an aviation training mission at Pensacola Naval Air Station filed a wrongful death lawsuit against L-3 Communications, the company that hired the civilian pilot. On January 10, 2006, a T-39 Sabreliner aircraft crashed as it was returning to Pensacola from Chattanooga, TN. A Navy investigation found that the pilot, who was traveling at a low altitude, miscalculated the aircraft’s clearance over the trees. The lawsuit was settled in October 2010.
