Connecticut Drug Prices Lawsuit
The state of Connecticut sued McKesson Corp., accusing the company of conspiring to artificially inflate the wholesale prices of hundreds of brand-name drugs. The state alleged that McKesson and pharmaceutical data publishing company First DataBank conspired to artificially inflate the average wholesale price (AWP) of the drugs, causing state health insurance programs to pay millions of dollars in excess charges. In October 2010, McKesson agreed to pay $15 million to settle the lawsuit. See related McKesson instance “Average Wholesale Price (AWP) Lawsuit.”
