USA v. Lesnik (Unauthorized Possession of Defense Information)
Abraham Lesnik, a former Boeing engineer who specialized in anti-missile systems, pleaded guilty in July 2008 to taking classified documents home. Until 2007, Lesnik worked at Boeing’s El Segundo facility where he worked on a partially classified project under contract with the Department of Defense. He pleaded guilty to a federal felony charge of unauthorized possession of defense information. Prosecutors alleged he repeatedly downloaded sensitive information onto a thumb drive which he then took home. In December 2008, Lesnik was sentenced to three years’ probation.
